KMC Building 1931

1940s: Karachi Municipal Corporation (KMC) built in 1931. A tram travelling on Bunder Road. Across from KMC is the Shree Swaminarayan Mandir. Many Hindus lived in the Gari Khata, Pakisan Chowk, Haqqani Chowk, before partition. The street names in the area reflect that, South of the KMC Building is the Karachi City and Sessions Courts followed by Campbell Street with Adam Masjid. Some businesses like Friends Optical. Bombay Light House still thrive across the road from KMC. (AHK)
