Vintage – A British couple soon after getting married at St. Andrew’s Church, Karachi in the year 1927.
Sohail Ansari This is on the occasion of wedding of Gordon Samuel Honeycombe (a sales manager with an American oil company) and Dorothy Louise Reid Fraser (who was from Scotland). This was on 20 December 1927. They lived in Bath Island and gave birth to a child who became a famous British newscaster, author, playwright and stage actor – Ronald Gordon Honeycombe.
Amin H Karim The Church stands on the corner of Abdullah Haroon Road and Preedy Street ( now Shahrah e Liaquat) In Saddar. It is known as the Scottish church. It was built in 1868 by the architect T G Newnham for the Scottish presbyterian mission in British India
Amin H Karim Late Michael Ali (May he Rest In Peace) used to write that in pre partition days the British troops would march from Frere Hall area; the English and Irish would make a right turn on Clarke Street and go to St Patrick’s Cathedral and the Scottish contingents would continue on Victoria Road to St Andrew’s Church!
